Pretty much all Middlebury students have to live on-campus their entire four years (except 60 seniors who live off-campus), but I'd hardly call the living situations for many juniors and seniors on-campus as being in dorms. For example, there are numerous social houses that are essentially school-owned and maintained, but inhabited by 40 friends; there are two halls recently built specifically for seniors, which have really nice suites and singles for all; the school has far more singles and suite options than other liberal arts/bigger schools, even for froshies and sophomores. No crazy cramping of freshmen into closets like you see at the bigger schools. However, it can be difficult for people who like the idea of cooking for themselves and getting away from their peers to live on-campus (only some senior suites have kitchenettes). But if you're on campus, you don't have to clean the toilets and showers, and someone collects your trash for you twice a week. Pretty nice, even if in retrospect it seems a little like pampering rich kids.
