Greek life at UT is awesome. When I was there the greeks comprised 12% of the campus population. Some might claim you're "buying your friends", but really its just a great national organization to get involved with your freshman year that you can stay involved with for all 4. Some of my sorority sisters are the best friends I made in my 4 years at UT, they're going to be the bridesmaids at my wedding, and some of my best memories are from my boy's fraternity parties. My favorite holiday for 4 years was Roundup. Going greek isn't for everyone, but it was for me and I don't regret it one bit. Note for girls - make sure you prep in advance - do your best to send in your rush application at the start of summer and start gathering your recs even before then. Really think carefully about the picture you're sending in with all of your applications - the girls WILL see it every day for weeks before you get there.
Go Greek or Go Home!
