If you have to drive to campus, get a carpool permit & save $!!!

I don't recommend driving to campus (it's too stressful, parking is expensive, AC transit is free), however if you must drive, think about buying a carpool permit. This is how the carpool permit works: you and a friend must both qualify to buy a parking permit (you have to live a certain # of miles from campus), you buy two separate carpool passes, you display both passes in one car and can park in any student lot. Ideally (for the environment), you would actually carpool with someone however you could also just use the carpool permit as a way of saving money. As long as you find a friend who lives far enough from campus but doesn't need a parking permit (they BART or bus for example), they could still "buy" the carpool permit and just give it to you to use. I've been doing this with my friends for years now and it saves us hundreds of dollars each semester. Ssshhh! Don't tell the Parking & Transportation office!
