Oakland Community Builders is a service-learning course for students interested in expanding their academic learning through social action. This faculty sponsored DECal course is complemented by volunteer placements with Bay Area grassroots community organizations working to alleviate poverty and other injustices. For student participants these this course provides connections to the greater Bay Area community while joining academic content to reflection sessions, films, guest speakers, and student presentations about prominent social issues.
