Sexual Harassment Advocacy and Peer Education (SHAPE) is a program within the Gender Equity Resource Center that was established to increase campus awareness about sexual harassment and sexual assault. SHAPE offers free workshops for Cal students and the surrounding community to promote discussion and understanding about sexual harassment and sexual violence, with the goal of creating a violence and harassment free environment. SHAPE also serves as an advocacy and support group for the student community to aid students who may have experienced sexual harassment and/or assault.
Recruits and trains student interns to facilitate interactive educational workshops and discussion in issues of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and campus climate. Workshop topics also include information in Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy and university informal complaint resolution procedures. Interns schedule workshops in residence halls, freshman orientation classes, sororities/fraternities, and campus student groups requesting information. Academic credit is available through our Education 98/198 seminar. (SHAPE IS NOT RECRUITING THIS YEAR).
