Well, the UC tree-sitters are in for a rude shock. After coming down "voluntarily" to make way for the new buildings, they are now order to pay thousands of dollars as fine and legal fees to the university. This money could up to to $10,000 for each of the tree-sitters and it will be channeled by to the university. It seemed that the university is seeking to get back part of the $800,000 that it spent on police and other security measures during the 22 months the sitters were up in the trees. The scaffolding cost on the final tree during the last day of the protest alone cost a staggering $40,000. If you are one of those tree-sitters, I bet you will have sleepless nights now and perhaps you can get down on your knees to beg for forgiveness!
