AC Transit is the local bus service in and around Berkeley. Check their website for transit information: http://www.transitinfo.org/. Among common bus lines that go to campus are the #51, down College and University Avenues, the #40, which goes down Telegraph Avenue, and the #67, which goes into the Berkeley Hills and out toward Albany and El Cerrito. The “Trip Planner” is especially useful. Registered UC Berkeley students can get a “class pass” sticker which allows them to ride AC Transit for free (see http://pt.berkeley.edu/classpass/). UC Berkeley employees can obtain a “Bear Pass” for unlimited AC Transit rides for a cost of $20/month.
