I greatly enjoyed playing on the Harvard water polo team. It was a great way to meet other Californians my freshman year since many water polo players are from California... we were able to commiserate about the cold weather and shop together for winter clothes!
The pool that we played polo in was gorgeous. We had to walk across the Charles River bridge to practice but most teams practiced on the other side of the river and it was worth it. Our practices were intense but a lot of fun too. We unfortunately almost never hosted home games but it was fun to travel to other East Coast schools on the weekends (though I missed my friends...). We also took a yearly trip to play in California! At one point, we were in the top 20 of Division 1 which is very impressive for an East Coast school. One of our assistant coaches also played on the men's water polo Olympic team!
I played water polo at Harvard for my first two years of college and am very glad I did!
