The Berkeley Poetry Review is used to promote the serious consideration of student creative writing at Berkeley by various methods including readings, workshops, and publications. Throughout the academic year, the staff works to produce a volume of poetry, with submissions coming from all across the nation, as well as from students, faculty, and friends of the university. BPR creates a student produced volume of poetry published in the spring semester and nationally distributes the issue in the fall. They host student open mic poetry readings, peer review workshops, and charity poetry readings such as "Poetry After the Storm: An Event to Rebuild the Libraries of New Orleans" and "Voices in Verse: A Celebration of Bay Area Poetry" throughout the year.
