I guess by now you have heard that it is unsafe to walk around Berkeley at might or early in the morning. If you are new here, I would like to advise you to ignore such a rumors. I don't know who started it but I can assure you that it is pretty safe to walk alone here at those time of the day/night. Even though the South and West parts of Berkeley might look a bit shady, neither my friends nor I have found it to be unsafe to walk around there. I have been here long enough to say that it is indeed very safe around here. However, if you really do freak out walking at night at this places, do give the Bearwalk a call (510-642-9255) or just get a couple of your friends to accompany you.
