The Classics department was the thing that really drew me to Berkeley. I am in love with the classics and this is the best program on earth (but then again, maybe I'm a bit biased). Check out their home page at: http://classics.berkeley.edu/ They are the "world-renowned center for the study of Graeco-Roman antiquity". The program is very thorough - you'll have an opportunity for in depth training in ancient Greek and Latin language, literature, culture, archaeology, history and so much more of two of the great Mediterranean cultures. You'll find some of the top classics professors here in this department.
