The thing you have to remember about the weather around The University of Texas in Austin is that being a southern state its hotter than you will expect during the summer. You will find that spring and fall last longer that where you come from in most cases but at least they don't have the overbearing heat that our summers do. The winters are great in my opinion. Snow and ice are almost never seen and although its cold sometimes it warms up during the day nicely. I tihnk you will like it here if you can deal with the dryness of the area.
